RIVER ROAR WEEKEND
This has been a strange Spring and Summer. The temperature has gone from sweltering to cool and back. Our daughter, Kelley, graduated from Central High School two weeks ago and, naturally, it STORMED that day after being great all week!

Bay City, our Michigan home town, is known far and wide for it's great riverfront events. Last winter we showed you pictures from the Shiver on the River. Now it's June and time for the RIVER ROAR!
River Roar 2000
RIVER ROAR is the first big event of the summer. We look forward to it because of all the people, the food, the entertainment and the excitement. Since Homespun Peddler is only one block off the water, we can stand at our front door and watch the action as the boats scream past the open area at the end of Fourth Street.

There's excitement for everyone with the power boats screaming around the short course. The river is maybe 600 yards wide and the course is about three quarters of a mile. These guys hit amazing speeds in that short distance and the action is non-stop.

Of the classes of boats to race, one of our favorites are these smaller, two-man rigs. They're fast and agile and can turn on a dime, even at very high speed.

All these boats have the ability to become airborne in a split second. Safety boats are well positioned to provide fast assistance.

River Roar 2000 - party time River Roar is the first big event of summer and it's party time for everyone. There are tents and food and drink and excitement on both sides of the river.

River Roar is the weekend of June 23-25 which is NOW. If you're not here, then you missed it. But never fear, there are loads of things yet to come. Next week is the famous Bay City 4th Fireworks Festival which will run from Saturday through Monday (July 1-3).
We'll be here and so should you!
